More Quilts And Tea Pictures

There was an area in one of the churches where they displayed alot of Feed Sack quilting ,Old machines and what they made out of Feed Sacks besides quilts .This first one is entirely made out of feed and flour sacks and called Trash can Quilts.
This art quilt was in the same display and all the little tiny specks you see is tiny yoyo's !! Some were on a tree in the art quilt and some were being used to make a vest.
They had several old sewing machines on display also I know there was a singer, not sure yet what the others were. This one is a National .
Another quilt with old sacks .Note the pink is just like the same fabric I have of my grandma's old blue & pink quilt I showed in another post.
A dress made out of a sack and a few sacks left uncut. Notice the machine with the flowers on it and the fancy silver on the main part of the machine ...it is a 1923 Singer #66.I would love to own one of those!
My Grandma Schoonover had an old singer, not sure what happened to it but I remember pumping the pedal to sew with it and it was when I was pretty young and was just learning to sew.
This is a display of a few smaller quilts just before you get to the Feed Sack section . I think they also had a class on how to use the sacks , I missed it, it is strange how I seem to make a quilt every year to represent something they have on display .I also made a feed sack quilt and it was hanging up in Davenports City Hall .I have it showing in 2010 - Nov. archives post.

Quilts & Tea Quilts

I fell in love with this one,the handwork and quilting is beautiful !

This one is good too , all the flowers were stitched with a blanket stitch and they were puffed out ,this one and the next 2 were in the Civil War Display .These are new but look Civil War.
I thought this one was colorful ,but is not a pattern I would do for myself .
This next one ,I just love the colors that are blended in together
This is a pattern I may do of a western or Indian theme ,the quilt is beautiful and the blue is just right .
I can't imaginme all the detailed handwork put into these type of quilts , I love applicade but I have never attemped one of these.
Love the pinwheel with these colors
These are just a few I will show more tomorrow .

More pictures at Quilt Show

This is a wonderful quilt put together by second graders and the teacher . The students made each a block, looks like fabric paint . It is hanging up in the Library and can be seen just as you walk in the door.
This is also in the library , I remember seeing it last year ,I had to get a picture of it as it shows 3-D  art with lots of fabirc and popcicle sticks and etc. I am thinking it was also made by students of the school . All that fabric at the top is puffed out to look like waves in the water .
This picture shows more quilts in the library in a circle part of the room. there are more quilts but I did not get all of them.
The next 4 pictures are in the City Hall ,the festival this year was about Childhood Revisited ,so there are alot of Teddy bears old and new .

This looks to be a pretty old teddy bear with a crochet dress. But its not old , the bears above were made by Graceann Smith.
This Teddy Bear is new with emboridery work ! It is beautiful and I admire the woman that made this , there is also a smaller one but I did not get a picture of that one . I think this one was made by someone else as Graceann had already left after the show and this bear was still there when I went to pick up my quilts.

More old bears and story books ,I think these are in another part of City Hall where the old Fire truck used to be, it was removed for reasons unknown to the people tending to the display .I do not know who these belonged to, if I had been by myself I probably would have gotten everyone's names ,but it looks like these are made by the Bear Lady from Lakeland. It could be that Graceanne and the Bear Lady are one and the same .
Now off to the side is this suitcase of a doll with a mini china tea set ,If you see some babies beside this, here's more pictures of them below .

I do not know what these baby dolls were made of but they looked so lifelike I could not believe  they were handmade ,my grand-daughter wanted one really bad . I did not dare ask how much . I have made alot of soft sculpture dolls before but nothing like these!
I just found out... Click on the picture these dolls are called Arnold babies .All these stuffed animals and Dolls are more than like copyrighted, so Please do not attemp to copy them ,Thank you !

Old Vintage Truck & Sarah

Sarah on the way home ,she had a great time ,unfortently we did not see the horse & carriage she was so looking foward to ,not sure why they were not there this time , The old old Fire truck was also no longer there .She ended up enjoying it anyway a lady from one on the vendors gave her a bracelet , her Mom got a camo pursh and I got a few pieces of fabric, some Tatted lace and use mag's .
I have to go back on sat to pick up the quilts, so I may go early and look some more, I always feel I have to rush when someone is with me and I don't get to look at everything . I did take pictures of other quilts and I will show them, I wonder if I should get permission before I post them  !!??

Delivery Of Quilts

I made a delivery of my 4 quilts this morning to Davenport City Hall , it had been a year since I was there last and forgot how long it took to get there, but I enjoyed it just the same .
This year instead of using the pillow cases we have always used, they wanted us to use plastic disposible bags .all I had was trash bags .I was not too crazy about that .
The bottom picture shows all the details about the Quilts and Tea  Festival , I did not realize the leaf was covering up a web site so here it is    http://www.visitcentralflorida.org/   there is one about just the festival and that one is    http://www.quiltsandtea.com/
I will be going to the first day of the festival and I will post as many pictures as I can  . This is going to be so much fun, join us if you can .

Quilts at Quilts & Tea Show

Here are the few pictures I took at the Davenport Quilts & Tea Quilt Show in Nov. of 2009 , I already told about our adventure that day ,now I am showing the quilts .
The Outer space quilt and the Farm quilts are 2 of mine that I had entered ,the rest are favorites that we saw ,someday I may try to make  a quilt  like the one on top ,it looks like 1" squares in each block .I just love the colors in the quilt , unfortantly I did not get the name of the quilter .Note to self get the information !
