Glass ornament and quilt book from Robin (Pastors wife ),how sweet is that ! She knows what I like !
Snowman gift bag with a Kohl's gift card from my Secret Sister at church.I also got a cell phone from hubby for texting if I need anything when I travel to Mom's .Plus a quilt from Mom along with knitted dishcloths and steak knives .I will have to show the quilt later need a better photo.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas .....Looks like alot of people got a white one this year !
Pretzel bark is just almond flavor white choc blocks melted , stir well, add crumbled pretzels, spread on wax paper on cookie sheet ,let cool and then break up or cut in squares
Peanut butter cookies I use the pre-mix cookie dough and bake as called for, when removed from oven and cookie sheet , add the mini reese cups, press down, let cool .takes a couple hours unless you refrigerate them but that makes the cookie part too hard.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE ,HOPE ALL OF YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY !!
I made this today after the kids all gathered up a half a gallon of Acorns from the huge oak tree right across our driveway, the boys and I then walked up the road a bit and cut the tall grass, the dry flowers used to be yellow, then there is some that looks like hay and the red stuff, I am not sure what that is and then the white is from Mom's Popcorn tree.
I don't know if you can see the acorns from this, hope you can , click on the picture for a close up.
I had it on a glass table outside and the next thing I knew either the wind or the squirrels had knocked it over, so I brought it inside and put it behind the rocking horse display Mom gave to me 2 yrs ago. The teddy bear looks old but not sure if he is or not. I still love him just the same .
My sister and I saw these on our way home from Mom's ,I heard of them befor but never seen any until then , The Cobalt Blue bottles really make them stand out there is also green and gold bottles ,I am wondering what they used for the tree itself .Click on the picture for a close up
Another mixed color vetvet , Mom made all 3 of these stockings , she made them with some friends a few years ago when they were all in a quilting group. All the stockings are stuffed with batting or stuffing and mini toys poking out the top. These are for show , I plan to make some for next year for the kids to hang to be filled with goodies .
My sister and I arrived at Mom's in north Florida wed. evening just before dark, we had planned on going straight to town after we got there but decided to wait until in the am. So we went on to town thursday morning and spent most of the morning there, then did alittle bit of sewing that afternoon.
We planned on doing our baking on friday because Mom's brother was coming to visit and we had all day to bake so we started baking cookies , first it was chocolate chip cookies , I wanted to make my peanut butter cookies with the mini reese cups in the middle ,then Mom and Rexa wanted some Molasses cookies and so they made those and then we made Grandma's Brown Sugar cookies .Well in between us baking some and trying to make the house look good I was out on the back porch and was trying to think what to use for decorations, Mom gave me a few that she did not use inside, then I decided to look around the yard for dried stuff, Rexa was out there and found the dried leaves, flowers, grasses and dried goldenrod. Then I went looking for more and found the popcorn tree pods (white),
The cone like flower has a name but I don't know what it is, I just know it is a reddish color when it first opens in the spring, these are the dried ones Rexa found.
We must have made at least 8 dozen cookies !
Mom and Rexa, after she said.......... well where are the aprons we made a few years ago , Mom found 2 of them.
Choc. chip, Peanut Butter/Mini ReeseCups and Molasses Cookies on Mom's red plate with the christmas quilt table top she made.
I have been collecting Snowmen for several years now ,every year I would buy one or two ,sometime three. It has gotten so big I have to keep making more room for them. Just last year I started adding the tree's and houses & just recently the church was given to me .
This shows how it looks just as you walk in the house .
This is not snowmen but other Christmas stuff I have had for a long time ,some are new.
I also decorated Chloe's Dollhouse and she insited I take a picture of it too ,I brought her the mini tree to add to it, if we have time we might be making tiny gifts to put under it .
This is the reflection of my tree in the big picture window and the Christmas Table runner Mom made me , it is too pretty to put on my table, so I put it there for now.
These are my christmas catus plants from last year , I was totaly surprised the other day when I saw all the blooms on them ,ususally they die on me or don't bloom until late, but these somehow survived the terrible heat from the summer .
This wall was the wall for my quilts to hang from, I decided to take the last quilt down as it appeared to be getting quite dusty, I usually put my tree in front of our huge plate glass window, I have the couch there and did not want to move it, so I thought about making it look like there is a window there by using some tulle of an old wedding dress, then it looked too plain, so I found this dark dark blue with the white leaves and said well maybe it will look like snow !! I did have colored lights and decided it did not look good, I think the white lights make it look better.
I took these pictures just before the sun went down, thats why there appears to be extra white off to the side, the sun was real bright shining through the side window .
I saw a lady at the Quilt Show as a vendor and she was tatting away on some lace she was making, I asked her if it was easy to do , she said once you get used to it, yes. It looks hard to me !
My Mom's mother did tatting work before she passed away while Mom was a child . Mom had some of her lace stored away ,I never knew about it until we started working on the first family heirloom crazy quilt, so we put some of that on it .
I just had to buy some of this lady's tatting work, I brought the 4 butterflies the first day , then I had to go back the next day to pick up my quilts after the show, so I went early and brought the long piece and I was telling her about the crazy quilted bible covers I was making, so she gave me the one with the green ribbon and then I brought the heart and she gave me the 2 tone pink and ivory piece!
She is a wonderful lady and I hope to see her agian . She gave me her card in case I wanted to order more , She was showing me a crown she made that was about 5 or 6 inches high, it was beautiful, I wish I would have taken a picture of it. If I ever see her agian I will be sure to take more pictures .

I was outside last Tuesday and was cleaning off our carport because we knew it was going to be a nice day for our Thanksgiving Dinner and I was looking out toward the back across the street and saw this lone maple tree with the colorful leaves .
I just had to get a close up .
Our Thanksgiving Day turned out wonderful ! It reminded me of the Pilgrims and Indians on their first Thanksgiving Dinner, the weather was perfect and everyone had a great time , the kids were all over the place. I hope everyone else had a great Thanksgiving too.
