Quilt show

These Quilts are ones I entered in the Suwannee River Quilt Show at Stephen Foster State Park for 2009 . The one is the Splendar Quilt that is heavily beaded and is a wall hanging .I have a post on just this quilt , posted 4-8-2010. 

The Next one is a Farm Quilt called My Farm .When I made this I could not find fabric for the tractor, barn, truck ,water trough or wagon wheel so I drew and painted my own with Jacquard Textile Paints , I then ironed them onto Wonder Under and cut them out , ironed them onto the background you see and machine quilted all of it  .

The last quilt is a quilt that I made while waiting to go to Jacksonville to catch a train to  Pa , my sister & I both arrived at Mom's  a couple days early and then did not have anything to do, so I put this together and then brought the binding at the Needles Quilt Shop in Wellsboro ,Pa.

I have also entered all 3 of these quilts in the Davenport Quilts and Tea Show in Nov .2009 ,I also entered my outer space quilt and I will post that one another day. 

Gourds

These Gourds were made at different times , the bowl with the small gourds is one I made for Aunt Kathy when we went to Wellsboro ,Pa . in 2008. The gourd itself was one that grew in Mom's neighbors yard ,they were extra large, I also made one for mom , The small bowl that looks like leaves I made for Aunt kathy while I was in Pa. I think Krista has it now , the bird houses, most of those were made last year . I have made quite a few all different colors and styles  .
I still have some gourds that my Aunt gave me and they are odd shaped and I cannot decide how I want to do those yet .I will be showing more as I make them.

Splendar Quilt

I made this from a pattern in a book called Dazzling Quilts ,the pattern is called Floral Fantasy , I named the quilt Splendar .
It was made at Mom's in Live Oak, I brought most of the fabric at  JoLee Quilt Shop in Mayo about 7 miles from Mom's .
I entered the quilt along with 2 others in the 21st Suwannee River Quilt Show on October16-18, 2009 . I received a honorable Mention on the quilt. I also entered it in the Davenport Quilts and Tea Quilt Show in Nov .2009. I spent quite a few hours on the bead work and did not bead any 2 flowers alike . I wanted all of them to be different .

Mom's back yard

This is the pond my brother Gary built for Mom in 1996, it used to hold water and gold fish ,Sand cranes come and ate the fish and put holes in the plastic , we repaired it several times and then Mom just gave it up and has been using it to mulch all the leaves ,makes good soil .

The bird house is also something my brother made and is still on a railroad tie in Mom's backyard .

Mom and I both made these tepee's for gourds to grow on , Aunt Kathy had made one the spring of 2008 when she stayed there a week .

Window Painting of Barn

I was on Craig's List one day when I saw an ad that a woman wanted a window painting to go into her new home  .I wrote to her and told her I have done several,she was interested in western or country , so  this is what she chose .I had never painted one where the picture continues to the next window pane ,so this was a difficult project but love the results .My sister Tina gave me the window out of her house where they had replaced the old to new , I scraped off the old loose paint on the wood frame, repainted with a green under coat and then used the crackle paint to finish the old look.The woman was very happy with the finished painting.

Chloe's Doll House

Chloe's Doll house has been in the planning stages for about 5 months , I had asked my brother-in-law Gary Colvin if he could make one for her 8th birthday on March 31st.
 I had found the furniture at The Second Hand Rose Thrift Store in winter Haven, I found the red furniture first and then was wanting more ,as I needed the table ,chairs  & etc.about a month later they had more and with the table & chairs so I got those also ,but I still could not find a couch or bed , that was ok I was going to buy ther plastic doll furntiure from walmart but they sold out at christmas and did not reorder any.When I went to Mom's in Feburaury I made the mini quilts you see above .
There were some problems about how I wanted the house to look so it was put aside until I arrived back at Mom's just last week , with it being spring break for the kids I decided to take Chloe with me for her birthday , we got there on sat. I then left Chloe with her great grandmother to see how the house was coming along and it was looking good and I pointed out that I wanted the roof the way it looks now simply because I thought the roof could be used as an outside room or whatever she wanted it to be .
Then My sister, Tina and I made the bed out of leftover wood , I was going to wait until the 31st to give her the house, but Gary had it done on monday so I decided to go ahead and give it to her that afternoon simply because she was bored .........so we got it back to Mom's and I made the curtians , sheets and pillow cases ,Mom made 2 yarn crocheted rugs , I also made bunk beds out of cardboarb boxes and dowels .That will not last long and I will try to make another one out of wood  .
After Chloe started playing with it she moved furniture around several times !
At this time the House is sitting in my living room , I plan to add wallpaper, carpet, pictures, lamps & etc. we will make some mini dishes and accessories out of clay and I may keep that project for the summer while they are home from school.Should be fun !
