New ~Old Embroidery

Long and short cloth doilies with heavy embroidery work
2 small
single layer and close up of the first
Corner of a table cloth
Two Pillow Cases

Mom was given a whole bunch of these by a friend . We are not sure what we want to do with them , Mom told me to take some home if I wanted to, I am not sure what I want to do with them yet, they would be nice cut up on crazy quilts, aprons or hand bags or even a wall hanging , however the more I think about it the more I like the idea of a whole quilt out of all of the ones she has left .Believe me there are more!

Using Jaquard Textile Paints

The first 3 are still wet, .I only used 2 pieces of cloth ,I am showing several versions of wet and dry , top and back side .I started with the green, yellow and white, I put about a cup and a half of water in a large plastic bowl, first I scrunched up the fabric and then put it in the bowl to soak in the water, I then added the colors one by one and parts of it I used a squirt bottle to spread the color out.

This is the back side dry

These are dry and the back side
This one I used several colors I was just experimenting , to see what I could come up with .I did not have enough white paint so I got out the rock salt, sprinkled it all over, I don't know if you can see the results but it turned out pretty good, I took some of the pictures in different angles to show the different effects.
There is no rock salt on the green, just the mixed colored cloth.

Painted Denim Beads

Chloe painting strips that are 1 x 8
We painted lots of these !
Sarah ~ she loves to paint and mix colors

Have to let dry, I left them outside for about 4 hours just to be sure they were good and dry
These were cut 3 times so they ended up being just over 1/4 inch

Sarah and I started rolling them late afternoon, we used a toothpick to start it with so there was an opening, then dots of tacky glue. Sometimes you have to keep pushing the end down.. Normally  I would use hot melt glue, but not with children .
This is everything we used to make the beads, can you see the toothpicks?

I used 24 beads to make this one, the large heart charm I brought from the flea market, need to go get some more. I then tied some knots to make it look better. I have an idea for another one, we have to roll some more for the girls to make one. Anyone can do this and we can used however many you want in fact you can make the whole necklace just these beads or add some other type of bead to it.
Hobby Lobby or Michels Crafts have some charms too, but they cost more than the flea market.

Dyeing Cloth and Lace

This and the next 4 pictures show an old crochet table cloth I had gotten at a yard sale a few years ago , it was coming apart , I could not make myself throw it away so this is what Sarah (my youngest grand-daughter) and I did one day last week, was we spent an hour or so dyeing this and some flowers I have had stored forever !
Sarah could not resist and kept adding more and changing the colors

I love how the yellows and greens blend in together, there will be more like this next time with other colors!
This is small pieces of leftover cotton from quilts I used the green blue and yellow
Purple and white

This last one was cloth used for cleaning up leftover paint I water on the tray , this is what it looks like after it was dried and turned over , the imprint was from the picnic table .I like it so next time I will do more of this with other colors.

Upholstery And Lace Handbag

A few months ago I showed some upholstery that I had gotten really cheap at a shop that was selling out , the fabric was bound into heavy cardboard as a sample book on the upholstery fabric they carried , I took it all apart and remover the paper backing and used4 different colors but same pattern for a handbag , I added different laces, appliique's and flowers, along with some buttons .Looks about like an Antique bag.

Close up of front ~ forgot to remove a pin !
