Fall Decorations

This years Fall decorations ,Tall vace has tulle with mini pumpkin/s lights and yellow flowers and gold lights inside , the gourds are also shown below ,the ceramic pumpkin I have had for about 25 years that I cleaned, fired, painted and fired agian,then added the small light inside .The quilt is one Mom made and is the reverse side ,looks so much like fall .

The Scarecrow above I made from a gourd after seeing one my cousin made , I use  Jaquard textile paints for the hat and face then spayed with clear coat and added the corn husk for hair , this year I put lights inside it .
The bottom bowl I cut out by drawing leaves to the side then cut with a steak knife being really careful ! then use the same paints for this also ,I wanted to use the wood burning iron but it would have taken too long ,I do not have alot of patince like I use to  . This year I filled it with the plastic veg , and a scarecrow.

Gourds Sent to PA

Gourds I cleaned, cut and painted in 2008 and sent to PA to give to my Aunt and family in Catlin Hallow. My Aunt Kathy had sent me a huge box full of the gourds after her first visit to Mom's.

The bowl was made from a large gourd that Mom's neighbor gave to me, I really enjoyed painting this one wirh the huge pink flower, I also made one for Mom ,I have one more for myself but have not started on it yet..

The one with the blue roof was done with wood putty , the green gourd with purple flowers is also done with the putty.

The yellow gold one has real lace glued to it and painted purple, all of them were spray painted with alot of the clear coat.

My Aunt Kathy has the bowl in her living room and at one time had the mini gourds in it . I think I posted a picture of it in March with some other gourds I had done. I have not done any this year yet, I still have a few more gourds to clean . I may do those when it cools down outside.

I planted seeds for some new ones, no luck ! I can't seem to grow them here for some reason !

Gourds

These Gourds were made at different times , the bowl with the small gourds is one I made for Aunt Kathy when we went to Wellsboro ,Pa . in 2008. The gourd itself was one that grew in Mom's neighbors yard ,they were extra large, I also made one for mom , The small bowl that looks like leaves I made for Aunt kathy while I was in Pa. I think Krista has it now , the bird houses, most of those were made last year . I have made quite a few all different colors and styles  .
I still have some gourds that my Aunt gave me and they are odd shaped and I cannot decide how I want to do those yet .I will be showing more as I make them.
