Tatting

I saw a lady at the Quilt Show as a vendor and she was tatting away on some lace she was making, I asked her if it was easy to do , she said once you get used to it, yes. It looks hard to me !
My Mom's mother did tatting work before she passed away while Mom was a child . Mom had some of her lace stored away ,I never knew about it until we started working on the first family heirloom crazy quilt, so we put some of that on it .
I just had to buy some of this lady's tatting work, I brought the 4 butterflies the first day , then I had to go back the next day to pick up my quilts after the show, so I went early and brought the long piece and I was telling her about the crazy quilted bible covers I was making,  so she gave me the one with the green ribbon and then I brought the heart and she gave me the 2 tone pink and ivory piece!
She is a wonderful lady and I hope to see her agian . She gave me her card in case I wanted to order more , She was showing me a crown she made that was about 5 or 6 inches high, it was beautiful, I wish I would have taken a picture of it. If I ever see her agian I will be sure to take more pictures .

Florida's Colorful Leaves

Who says Florida does not have leaf changing leaves !
I was outside last Tuesday and  was cleaning off our carport because we knew it was going to be a nice day for our Thanksgiving Dinner and I was looking out toward the back across the street and saw this lone maple tree with the colorful leaves .

I just had to get a close up .
Our Thanksgiving Day turned out wonderful ! It reminded me of the Pilgrims and Indians on their first Thanksgiving Dinner, the weather was perfect and everyone had a great time , the kids were all over the place. I hope everyone else had a great Thanksgiving too.

Machine Applicades

I do not know who made these but I have had them in my collection of laces & trims for about 4 years now.I remember buying them from the Dream Closet at the first Quilts and Tea Festival I went to, I think I only paid like $2.00 for the bag of them !

I have not decided how I want to use them yet ,the work is done really good ,so I cannot cut around them to keep the beauitful work the same, the tan' ones I may use in a crazy quilt , the others I might use on Blue Jean hand bags .

Quilts & Tea Quilts

I fell in love with this one,the handwork and quilting is beautiful !

This one is good too , all the flowers were stitched with a blanket stitch and they were puffed out ,this one and the next 2 were in the Civil War Display .These are new but look Civil War.
I thought this one was colorful ,but is not a pattern I would do for myself .
This next one ,I just love the colors that are blended in together
This is a pattern I may do of a western or Indian theme ,the quilt is beautiful and the blue is just right .
I can't imaginme all the detailed handwork put into these type of quilts , I love applicade but I have never attemped one of these.
Love the pinwheel with these colors
These are just a few I will show more tomorrow .

More pictures at Quilt Show

This is a wonderful quilt put together by second graders and the teacher . The students made each a block, looks like fabric paint . It is hanging up in the Library and can be seen just as you walk in the door.
This is also in the library , I remember seeing it last year ,I had to get a picture of it as it shows 3-D  art with lots of fabirc and popcicle sticks and etc. I am thinking it was also made by students of the school . All that fabric at the top is puffed out to look like waves in the water .
This picture shows more quilts in the library in a circle part of the room. there are more quilts but I did not get all of them.
The next 4 pictures are in the City Hall ,the festival this year was about Childhood Revisited ,so there are alot of Teddy bears old and new .

This looks to be a pretty old teddy bear with a crochet dress. But its not old , the bears above were made by Graceann Smith.
This Teddy Bear is new with emboridery work ! It is beautiful and I admire the woman that made this , there is also a smaller one but I did not get a picture of that one . I think this one was made by someone else as Graceann had already left after the show and this bear was still there when I went to pick up my quilts.

More old bears and story books ,I think these are in another part of City Hall where the old Fire truck used to be, it was removed for reasons unknown to the people tending to the display .I do not know who these belonged to, if I had been by myself I probably would have gotten everyone's names ,but it looks like these are made by the Bear Lady from Lakeland. It could be that Graceanne and the Bear Lady are one and the same .
Now off to the side is this suitcase of a doll with a mini china tea set ,If you see some babies beside this, here's more pictures of them below .

I do not know what these baby dolls were made of but they looked so lifelike I could not believe  they were handmade ,my grand-daughter wanted one really bad . I did not dare ask how much . I have made alot of soft sculpture dolls before but nothing like these!
I just found out... Click on the picture these dolls are called Arnold babies .All these stuffed animals and Dolls are more than like copyrighted, so Please do not attemp to copy them ,Thank you !

Old Vintage Truck & Sarah

Sarah on the way home ,she had a great time ,unfortently we did not see the horse & carriage she was so looking foward to ,not sure why they were not there this time , The old old Fire truck was also no longer there .She ended up enjoying it anyway a lady from one on the vendors gave her a bracelet , her Mom got a camo pursh and I got a few pieces of fabric, some Tatted lace and use mag's .
I have to go back on sat to pick up the quilts, so I may go early and look some more, I always feel I have to rush when someone is with me and I don't get to look at everything . I did take pictures of other quilts and I will show them, I wonder if I should get permission before I post them  !!??

Quilts And Tea Festival ~ Today !!

I am heading out to the festival with my grand-daughter Sarah and her Mom, Samantha , we all had a wonderful time last year and can't wait to get there this time, tuesday Morning Sarah( almost 5), came over and asked me if I was ready to go ! I said yes but not until Friday .So with wonderful weather, good shoes, lightweight sleeves, our money and camera's ....we are off !
We will be riding from place to place in this, 2 churches, a school library, community center and city hall and maybe the hotel where they serve lunch and tea. So we will be there most of the day, we also have antique shops to visit as well as the vintage cars plus all the vendors along the lake .
